Manhattan
This is a one-bedroom apartment in Midtown East steps from the E, M, and 6 trains at 54th & Lexington and about a 10-minute walk from Grand Central. The location is really the highlight of the apartment since you can get practically anywhere in Manhattan in just a few minutes, so if you want to commute to work in Chelsea, go for drinks in the East Village, see a Broadway show, visit the Met, sing karaoke in Koreatown, catch the Metro-North at Grand Central, or sample the souvlaki in Astoria, you can get to all of those places in just a few minutes from this apartment. Midtown East itself is a nice place to be since it empties out on nights and weekends and you don't have to deal with long lines everywhere you go.
The building was built in the 1970s and the common areas were just renovated last year. It has an elevator and a laundry room in the basement. We just had a new dishwasher put in last year. The apartment is on three levels, which makes it feel even bigger than it really is--the front door, kitchen, and bathroom are on the first level, then there are a few steps up to the (huge!) living room, then a few more steps to the bedroom. I have lived in many NYC apartments and this is by far the cleanest, with the best soundproofing. We have had no issues with building maintenance, although the management can sometimes be slow to respond to issues like an appliance not working, etc. The climate control units are much nicer than a window A/C, but somewhat old (I don't think they've ever been replaced).
